That Rhythm Man Guitars is excited to get to offer this exceptional player's L-5C. Acoustically, this guitar has everything one can ask for in a parallel-braced archtop. It has great headroom and can be driven very hard and responds beautifully without giving an inch. It's also incredibly well balanced with great tone across all registers. This one of the rare cutaway archtops that doesn't give up any ground to great non-cutaway acoustic archtops.
The guitar has a full C-shaped neck, typical of the era. The guitar plays very well with vintage style frets. All notes ring out clearly across the entire ebony fretboard. The 3-piece maple neck is smooth with some of the finish worn through to bare wood. The carved spruce top is beautifully grained and is completely free of cracks, only showing some scattered small dents, as shown in the photos. The sides and back are lightly figured maple, the back showing light blister figuring and gorgeous grain. There is a repaired, cleated crack along the waist of the treble side which appears very stable. The hardware appears all original with the exception of alterations to the pickguard for a prior floating pickup which appears to have had a neck mount with small a small screw hole present on each side of the fingerboard overhang portion of the neck (Johnny Smith style mount). The pickguard mounting arm, bridge, tailpiece, and tuners are all original. The finish appears 100% original with a beautifully done sunburst with a great fade.
