We are excited to be one of only four dealers selected to carry one of this limited run of Aluminati Orions done in a special finish by Rick Fusco (formerly of Echo Park). The name shou sugi ban refers to a Japanese method of perserving wood by charring it. You can see this in the dark edges of the body which blend into the cherry color of the sunburst. The guitar which is made of one solid piece of locally sourced maple with areas of flame figuring and burl is then finished over with a tinted clear coat.
As will all Aluminati guitars, the neck is made using Aluminati's proprietary construction, making them light and remarkably resonant and stable. The carbon fiber fingerboard give a great feel. The neck is dead straight with no need for relief. The construction allows remarkably low action with very little need for tuning adjustments.
The maple used for the body of this guitar was sourced locally in western North Carolina and in addition to beautiful figuring is very resonant, combining remarkably well with the neck, giving this guitar great responsiveness and feel with full, round tone. Not only is the only one in the run of four that was done in this beautiful cherry sunburst finish, it is also the only one that received Lollar Novel 90 (humbucker sized P90) pickups. This give the guitar an open tone with outstanding clarity. I couldn't imagine a more appropriately match pickup to this guitar.
